Why cats shed hair
All cats shed hair no matter what length. This is usually seasonal as your cat loses hair for the warmer months. However, other reasons for shedding include not grooming your cat regularly, allergies, or even stress.
Excessive shedding shouldn’t be ignored though, as there could be a medical reason. Just as humans naturally shed hair, so do our feline friends. The amount of time taken for new hair growth varies, but like us, cats hair grows in cycles
Why grooming is the best way to stop shedding

As previously mentioned, grooming your cat should be part of your routine. Not only does brushing help keep your cat’s coat healthy, but collects loose hair before it sheds.
Knowing how to groom your cat the right way is an essential part of being a cat parent. It can also help vacuum cleaners last longer, and save hairs becoming embedded in furniture.
I’ve got through quite a few vacuum cleaners over the years, with cat hair often being the main culprit. I’ve learnt my lesson, and now take time out of my busy schedule for brushing the cat!
The best type of vacuum if you have cats or dogs is one that’s designed for pet hair. They ‘re usually more hard wearing and have allergen filters.
In addition there are a variety of tools available for removing cat hair, including rollers, brushes, and hand held vacuums. Keep reading as I share the following six cat hair removal products.
As I said before, I may make a small commission on any sales made, but this won’t have any affect on the price you pay.

Bissell, 1782 Pet Hair Eraser Cordless Hand and Car Vacuum

As this Bissell vacuum is cordless it enables you to clean inside your car as well as in the home. You get several attachments to suit different cleaning tasks.
These include a crevice tool that helps reach narrow gaps such as under the sofa. In addition, an upholstery tool is ideal for soft furnishings. As it has felt strips along the sides you’ll find it attracts cat hair quite easily.
A pet hair tool with motorised brush provides extra power for capturing embedded hairs. This means you can do deeper cleaning without the hassle of getting out the regular vacuum.
The canister is released by pressing a button on top of the vacuum, making it easy to empty. Expect charging time to take around 2-3 hours. This should be enough time for it to reach full charge.
Customers report around 15 minutes of cleaning time before the battery runs low. Obviously this is a downside to using cordless vacuums. However, for small jobs, it could prove to be a handy tool for pet parents.
If you have limited storage space you’ll find the Bissell pet hair eraser very convenient as it’s small and compact. Don’t expect it to be a replacement for a full size vacuum though. However, it could be a very useful supplement for those times you don’t want to plug in the regular vacuum.

Do you find stubborn cat hair a problem when cleaning?

Unless you have a hairless breed such as the Sphynx or Peterbald, you will find cat hairs on your furniture and carpets. Finding the best tools for removing them can be hit and miss.
Embedded cat hair can be a nightmare to remove, and while some of these products may help, if you don’t have any to hand, the following tips work well for me. Always use natural cleaning solutions whenever possible as not only are they environmentally friendly but safer too.
For stubborn dirt and hair embedded in carpets and sofas use a stiff brush and baking soda. Though normally associated with cooking, baking soda is also a powerful cleaning tool.
Simply sprinkle a little amount onto the area and leave for about 15 minutes. Then use the stiff brush to remove dirt. Follow up with a vacuum for a clean and fresh smelling home.
The good thing about baking soda is it not only helps remove stubborn dirt but acts as a deodoriser as well. In addition, there are many other household uses for baking soda.
Some cats are hairier than others, but all shed hair. Whether you have a long or short hair kitty, you will need to brush her regularly.
It doesn’t have to be a big chore, and can easily be fitted around your daily or weekly schedule. As mentioned previously, grooming your cat is a great way to bond as well as check for any problems.
I hope this article has helped you decide what is the best cat hair remover, and that you find one that suits your needs.

I’ve been stuggling to find products to help with my kitten shedding so much and everything I would get just woulndt work. This post made it super easy to find some of the best product to try and provided me with a description and even the average rating.
I believe the days of me struggling to find a good product is gone and I will definetely be getting some of these products to help with all the shedding of hair.
Best wishes.

Thanks so much for sharing this!
I never had a cat but recently moved in with a friend that owns 3 cats! Though they have been the best companions for me now, they shed a lot.
And my friend doesn’t have the best roller, so I thought of getting one – thanks for your recommendation!
Thank you for your comment Wina, and glad you enjoyed this post:) Yes, shedding can be a problem especially with multiple cats. I hope you find a roller for removing cat hair that works efficiently! Some are better than others, but the ones I’ve shared here are some of the best I’ve found.
Thanks, Kathy, for sharing this post. This is the #1 problem for all cat owners and sometimes, it can be a real pain in the butt. Would you say that Bissell vacuum is the best solution? I have those sticky rollers and they are effective too. But it seems like a vacuum would be the easiest and most cost-effective solution in the long-run. Would you agree?
Hi Ivan, thank you for comment, and glad you found this post useful:) Yes, I believe Bissell is a good choice as used some of their products in the past. However, I think it may be a good idea to get a roller as well. This is to get stubborn hairs off clothing such as jumpers or jackets.
You have some great suggestions here. I’m deciding which one to try. I brush my cats often, but I still go through miles of masking tape trying to get cat hair off my clothes.
Thank you missy, I can relate to that! I’ve had long hair cats over the years and my last was a white cat. I remember wearing a black coat and trying to pick white hairs off the sleeves! That was before I discovered lint rollers:)
