Scratching posts
Scratching posts are an essential piece of kit for any cat owner. Whether your cat spends all day outside or prefers to lounge around indoors, she will need to sharpen her claws.
If you’d rather your kitty didn’t use the sofa or table legs, you will need to provide a scratching post. One of the funniest ones I’ve seen lately are those shaped like a cactus.

Some great ideas here, Kathy. Yes our cat, Melon, usually gets a visit from Santa. This year I believe Santa may bring her a cat tree as well as her stocking full of treats, catnip, and new toys. Now that our kids are grown and have their own families our cat tends to get quite spoiled. They really do become part of the family. I once made the mistake of leaving a package of catnip on the counter while I was out in the garden. When I came in it was everywhere and the cat was definitely pretty freaked out. Is it possible for a cat to overdose on catnip? I now keep it ina cupboard she can’t open.

No, cats can’t overdose on it. It’s not the same as humans getting high on cannabis. In fact it, the effect usually only lasts about ten minutes. Good idea to store the catnip safely in a cupboard! I actually bought the Cozy Plush Cat Cave for my kitten, and she loved it. She sometimes gets mad when my pug gets into it, but they mainly get along.
Although it looks small for my dog, it fits her perfectly. She usually sleeps on top when it’s cold, and it looks adorable. I might as well buy another one, so I don’t see my ‘kids’ fighting all the time 😀
